Cabin hospitals in the plateau disaster relief: 5,000 operations that treated 90,000 people and wounded
As we all know, the high altitude environment requires higher logistical support including medical care. In the Yushu earthquake disaster relief, cabin hospitals played an important role (treating nearly 90,000 cases of wounded and sick in nearly 5,000 operations).
A field module hospital consists of a modular field health equipment consisting of a medical functional unit, a ward unit, and a technical support unit. A field hospital system consists of 21 medical cabins, 26 sanitary tents and 2 power trailers.
Field cabin hospital cam classify the wounded, and conduct emergency life-saving surgery, early surgical treatment, early specialist treatment, critical emergency care, X-ray diagnosis, clinical examination, sterilization of sanitary equipment, supply of medical supplies, medical service command, remote consultation and so on. It can simultaneously support 4 operating tables, 2 preparatory tables, 4 emergency tables, and can complete 75 large and small operations and carry out first aid for the critically ill day and night; the ward unit can support 100 beds.
